xCloud Apps
Overview
xCloud Apps provides selected web applications as a managed service – bookable and cancellable on a monthly basis. You pick an app from the catalog, give it a name, and can get started within minutes. Operation, updates and backups are handled by xCloud.
Currently, Nextcloud is available as a managed app; the catalog is continuously being expanded.
Typical use cases:
- Your own Nextcloud for file sharing and collaboration, without server administration
- Quickly providing a web app for teams or projects
- Running several independent app instances under one account
Getting Started
Prerequisites
- An active xCloud account with complete billing information
- Access to the xCloud web app
Activating xCloud Apps
xCloud Apps follows a two-step model: first you activate the product, then you can book any number of app instances via Add app.
- Log in to the xCloud web app.
- Select Apps in the navigation.
- Click Activate xCloud Apps.
The activation itself is free of charge – costs only arise once you book an app instance.
The App Catalog
Via Open app catalog you can see all available apps. Each app card shows:
- Monthly fee – the app's base price per month
- Included storage – storage volume included in the base price (for Nextcloud: 1,000 GB)
- Included users – number of users included in the base price (for Nextcloud: 10 users)
- Additional storage – price per GB beyond the included volume
- Additional users – price per additional user
Show details takes you to the product page of the respective app.

Saving Your Credentials
Right after creation, a dialog shows your app's credentials:
- Web address – your app is reachable at this address
- Admin email
- Administrator username
- Admin password
Admin password is shown only once
Write down your admin password immediately. It cannot be recovered later – there is no "reset password" function.
The app starts within a few minutes at the displayed web address.
Managing Apps
The Your apps overview lists all app instances with name, status, app type, plan, creation date and web address.
An app passes through the following states:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Provisioning… | The app is being provisioned and will start shortly |
| Active | The app is running and reachable at its web address |
| Active (cancellation planned) | The app is still running but will be cancelled on the given date |
| Maintenance | Maintenance work is currently being performed on the app |
| Cancellation planned | The app's cancellation has been scheduled |
| Deleting… | The app and its data are being removed |
| Error | A problem occurred during provisioning – contact support |
Deleting an App
You can delete each app instance individually. To confirm, you must type the app's name.
Irreversible
Deleting an app cannot be undone. All data in the app is permanently deleted. Back up important data beforehand.
Pricing and Billing
Each app instance is billed monthly and can be cancelled monthly. The price consists of:
- Base price – including the respective app's storage and user allowance (for Nextcloud: 1,000 GB of storage and 10 users)
- Additional storage – per GB beyond the included volume
- Additional users – per user beyond the included allowance
You can see the specific prices in the app catalog and in the cost summary before ordering. All prices are exclusive of VAT unless stated otherwise.
Deactivating xCloud Apps
You can unsubscribe from xCloud Apps at any time via Deactivate xCloud Apps.
Delete apps first
The subscription cannot be cancelled while app instances still exist. Delete all apps first, then you can deactivate the product.
After deactivation you cannot add apps anymore until you activate xCloud Apps again.
