Allowed Products
On the tab Allowed products of a project, you specify which products may be used in the project. Only allowed products appear on the project dashboard under Available services and in the sidebar.
Admins, managers, and the project's owners can change the setting. All other people in the project see a read-only overview (see Roles and Permissions).
Modes
- All products allowed (default): every product may be used, including products that are launched in the future. New products appear in the project without anyone having to act.
- Restricted: only the products you switch on may be used. Products that are launched in the future stay switched off until you allow them.
Change the allowed products
- Open the project and click the tab Allowed products
- Choose the mode, or switch individual products on or off. As soon as you switch a product off, the mode changes to Restricted.
- Click Save changes
The change takes effect immediately, also in the sidebar.
A product with active resources in the project can't be switched off; its switch is locked. Delete the product's resources first.
New products in restricted mode
If a new product is launched while a project is in restricted mode, the product stays switched off in that project. On the tab Allowed products, a notice asks whether you want to allow it; the product is marked as new. The notice disappears once you save the setting.
Read-only overview
People without the right to change the setting see how many products are allowed in the project, and a table with the status of each product:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Active | The product has active resources |
| available | The product is allowed but not in use yet |
| not allowed | The product is locked in this project |
Locked products
A product that isn't allowed in the project behaves as if it didn't exist there: it
doesn't appear in the sidebar or on the dashboard, and its pages show "page not found".
The same applies to the API; DNS API tokens of the project get 404 for a locked DNS,
for example.
