Settings

This part of the documentation covers everything that isn't a product itself: your organisation, its projects, the people who work in it, and the settings for security, payments, and invoices. The individual products are described under Products.

How your account is organised

  • Account (organisation): your company or organisation. Billing data, payment method, and invoices belong to the account. You get one account when you register.
  • Projects: an account contains one or more projects. Every product you book, such as a Storage subscription or a Kubernetes cluster, belongs to exactly one project. Use projects to separate, for example, production from testing, or the work for different customers. Registration creates a first project named Default.
  • Logins: each person signs in with their own login. A login belongs to exactly one account and has a role in the organisation, and, depending on that role, roles in individual projects. See Roles and Permissions.

Where to find what

The web app has three places for administration:

  • Organisation group in the sidebar: the Organisation page with all projects
  • Project group in the sidebar: the project switcher, the project dashboard, and the project's products
  • Avatar at the top right: the account menu with the Account Settings

Which of these you see depends on your role. For example, the group Organisation is only shown to admins, managers, and billing managers.

After signing in

Where you land after signing in depends on your role and on the number of projects:

  • Admins and managers with exactly one project land on its project dashboard; with several projects or none, they land on the Organisation page.
  • Billing managers always land on the Organisation page.
  • Members land on the project they last used in this browser, or otherwise on the first project they have access to. A member without any project role sees the notice No project with a link to the account settings; ask an admin or manager to assign you to a project.

If you open a link to a page in the web app while you're signed out, you get to that page after signing in.
